Ronald James had been a Territorial before the outbreak of the Second World War. He served on several fronts, before killed in action in Holland in November 1944.

GODRERGRAIG Sergt. KILLED IN HOLLAND
Sergeant Ronald James 207, Graig Road, Godrergraig was killed in Holland in November. A Territorial in pre war days, he was called up at the outbreak of hostilities and served in this country until D-Day. He was wounded in July and was brought to this country. He returned to Holland and had been there only a fortnight before he was killed. He was employed at the Tirbach Colliery and played for Fera Rovers. Sympathy is extended to his wife, (Dolly) and son, Ronald Alexander James, in their sorrow. Sergeant James was a son of Mr. and Mrs. David James of Queen Street, Pembroke Dock, formerly of 1 Rowton Villas, Ystradgynlais.
